🍸 Weekly Lesson:
Ask These Questions
Hospitality is a dialogue NOT a monologue.
A dialogue is a back and forth conversation while a monologue is when one person does all the talking.
When most servers are serving, they just inform the guests about things without asking any questions. Instead, you should include questions before, during or after everything you are recommending or selling.
It actually makes it 10 times easier to sell.
I will explain why…
Pretend you texted someone that is really good with phones and asked them: “What phone should I get?”…
If they just responded and said “iPhone 16 pro max”, you most likely aren’t just going to take their word and buy a $1200 phone because they said they recommend it.
BUT, if they asked you “Do you want a really good camera?” and you said “Yes”, then they asked a few more questions like ”big or small?”, “how much storage?”, and “what brand?”…
And you answered all those questions and then they sent you a link for a $1,500 phone, you’d be a lot more likely to buy it AND you’d feel much better about it!
The point of this is that when you just say “I recommend the filet mignon with mashed potatoes” they do not feel comfortable just buying it because you most likely say that to everyone.
But if you ask them:
”Steak, chicken or seafood?”
“Do you prefer filet mignon or ribeye?”
“Mash potatoes or XYZ?”
…and THEN you recommend it, they feel great about buying.
You should do this most times that you are talking.
Make it a back and forth about EVERYTHING!
